Entrepreneurs Showcase - Sacramento may not be in the Silicon Valley, but it's full of young entrepreneurs with business ideas that could potentially become the next Twitter. This Thursday, 10 entrepreneurs from the Sacramento region will showcase their business ideas before venture capitalists with hope of finding investors to get their company off the ground and bring jobs to region. We'll speak with the organizer of the event, Jack Crawford, who is also a partner of a venture capital firm in Folsom, and two entrepreneurs looking to make their business idea a reality.
Prostate Cancer - You may have seen a lot more moustaches last month than usual. That's because of Movember, a global campaign that asks men to grow moustaches to raise awareness and money for male cancer charities. And, according to the official Movember website, this year was the best Movember on record, raising $116 million worldwide. With the success of Movember behind us we we'd like to take a moment explore how cancer affects men in the Sacramento region, and the best way to avoid the dangers of cancer.
B Street Family Series - The B Street Theatre's family series celebrates its 10th anniversary with a brand-new play, "The Gift of the Magi" directed by Jerry R. Montoya Founded in 1986 as a traveling group called "Fantasy Theatre," the children's series moved to its current home in 2002. With help from some government funding, Producing Artistic Director Buck Busfield converted an old warehouse adjacent to the B St. adult main theatre to house the series. Offering weekend matinees for children and families and weekday matinees for students (often the subject matter of the plays lines up with curriculum, keeping seats full), the children's series has been a great success.
Sound Advice: Dave Brubeck - In this week's Sound Advice, Paul Conley joins us to remember Dave Brubeck on his 92nd birthday.
